This project studies the regeneration of Aalborg waterfront. The industrial heritage is not used for the same functions anymore, and urban renewal projects are going on. It contains a historical analysis of the area, an introduction to the importance of recycling spaces and the potential of converting degraded areas into new places for the city. A critical analysis of the Municipality projects will be made, in order to see these plans’ potential in increasing the liveability of the city, and to understand the main goals that the plans have to achieve.
In this report are also included study case analyses of other projects that helped the Municipality to create the on-going strategy and to have examples of different approaches to similar situations, so that the critical analysis would also be based on already finished projects.
Recycling, space and places, heritage and identity, liveability, urban renewal, procedural measures for planning choices: based on these key concepts and strategies the report is being built and these are the guide lines for the analysis: from general conceptualizations until final recommendations made around the projects analysis.
